Grand Palace, Bangkok, Thailand
August 14-16, 2019
Bangkok was a whimsical (and very sweaty) two days. I had hopped from Singapore to Bangkok, and then back to Singapore while I was in the region, so the two days schedule was really tight. Luckily, I got to see the four-faced Brahma at the Erawan Shrine as much as I wanted since my hotel was literally next door to the Shrine.
At the end of the trip, I did get a chance to go to the Grand Palace with my co-worker, where most of the cutout shots were taken. We were both wearing long sleeves, long jeans, and sneakers (crazy for the humidity and heat, but we were wise!), and didn’t have to buy skirts to cover our legs (travel tip*). The busiest area was definitely the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, where the Emerald Buddha sits. The palace is enormous and it takes a good full day to carefully examine everything and appreciate every aspect of the place.
It was a bit of a bummer that the cutouts I had taken where temporary cutouts and not my usual sturdy ones with a cardboard backing. Also, as a tropical plant enthusiast, I thought there would be Monstera Thai Constellations just causally sprouted on the side of a street (I mean, with the influx from Thailand and the name dedicated to it- I thought it was natural), and exotic philodendrons and alocasias littered all over the place — that wasn’t the case, I barely saw any rare tropical plants casually hanging about. *small tears*
