Amsterdam, The Netherlands
December 26, 2016
This was part of a trip where Birbdad and I had traveled through Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, and back to Belgium during winter of 2016. While Chewie and Dante were spending their Christmas at the SF bird hotel, I was trying to get a good shot of the cutouts with the I amsterdam sign (which is now gone from Museumplein and moved to the airport due to crowding and over-tourism).
The area was definitely over-crowded and I was struggling to get a good picture for the cutouts. Birbdad suggested that we go behind the sign and just flip the picture to make the letters read correctly (oh genius!). So after going through Rijksmuseum, we came out again and were able to take a really nice picture of the I amsterdam letters.
Amsterdam was the least foreign European city for me. It almost felt like Europe’s New York. The vibe was very familiar and ‘the ways’ of the city was something I didn’t have a problem understanding. We had zero problems getting around and every nook and cranny was a delight. I would love to revisit just for the museums alone. It is truly a jaw-dropping experience when you see some of the most famous masterpieces in person. The city is rich with culture and history and definitely worth visiting when in Europe.
